The Curse of LotFP

When the Deluxe Edition was being put together, most of the visual/arty types on the project moved or were preparing to move while working on the project.

I thought that was bad.

A disconcerting proportion of the visual/arty types working on the Grindhouse Edition are falling ill or getting injured. Two that I know of requiring lengthy hospital stays (just found out about one of them last night).

Does this happen to other publishers with big projects?

... makes me wonder if I should hope that this printing doesn't sell out over the next couple of years because I fear what will start happening to people when it's time to make a third printing.

  1. This is what happens when you outsource your printing to the Plains of Leng.

  2. I don't know if it happens to other publishers, but my co-workers suddenly, inexplicably fall ill when my VACATION draws near. The bastards.

  3. And yet, you do not fall ill or suffer calamity... Perhaps you have vampirism, whereby collaborators suffer energy drain.

Sort of like Ada, in Riverside back home... she sold candy to children, and managed to look younger past her hundredth year. Fortunately, a brave adventurer staked her out.

  4. Yikes! I mean, I thought suffering for your art was just a turn of phrase... I hope everyone concerned ends up ok. Never heard of this in the RPG field, but I haven't exactly researched it either...

  5. The authors of Eden's "One of the Living" sourcebook got "I survived the FZB" (fucking zombie book) t-shirts to celebrate surviving the project. Bad luck - including numerous illnesses, hospital visits, and culminating in an out of control truck taking out a power grid and house next door in a huge crash and explosion within seconds of the proofreader opening the file.

I haven't heard about challenges on that book's art side, but I don't want to know. I keep my "I survived the FZB" t-shirt close. ;)
