New LotFP Releases: Broodmother SkyFortress and Blood in the Chocolate

Wow, I don't use the blog much anymore. If you're wanting to keep up on LotFP stuff, you'll want to head over to Facebook or G+, and there are also fan communities on Facebook and G+.

Anywho, Broodmother Skyfortress and Blood in the Chocolate are available now in Print and PDF! They'll be filtering out to local stores in the next couple months.

Slügs! is also available for direct order from the LotFP website.

The Broodmother and BitC authors talk to each other about their new books here.

Kiel gives all the needed info about Blood in the Chocolate here.

Broodmother has been reviewed here, here, and here.

Buy buy buy so my apartment doesn't have to look like this over the holidays!

The Bundle of Lamentations: The Perfect Introduction to LotFP

As I write this, there's a little more than six days left in the Bundle of Lamentations offer.

Why should you care?

  1. It's over $100 worth of LotFP PDFs for under $25.
    1. If you've been curious about Lamentations of the Flame Princess, or on the fence about it, there won't be a better chance to sample such a large portion of LotFP at such a price. Right now there are 14 titles in the Bundle for that price, with the usual bonus titles still to come (that all previous purchases get to access so no worries about buying too early). Under $2/title.
    2. Even if you're an LotFP fan who has some of the titles, the discount will be such that it still might be worth it for you to jump in. We do just a couple PDF sales a year and nothing offering as big a savings as this.
  2. It's extremely creator friendly.
    1. For two of the sixteen titles in the Bundle, the writers and artists get a greater profit percentage than the publisher.
    2. For seven of the sixteen titles in the Bundle, the writers and/or artists are on a 50/50 profit share with the publisher.
    3. For four of the sixteen titles in the Bundle, the writer is the publisher.
    4. Three of the titles do not have continuing royalty agreements in place, but these were originally crowdfunded projects with odd economics, so the writers and artists were all paid an agreed-upon fixed amount up front.
  3. This is a diverse set of creators and creations. Eleven different writers out of six different nations writing to their own style on their own projects over which they have creative control. This is not a Corporate Unified Product Line. Baker, Blatt, Carryer, Chandler, Curtis, Green, Kowolski, Maliszewski, Novoa, Raggi, Zak. I'll put that lineup of writers up against any in the industry.
  4. An actual good cause is involved: ten percent of the total Bundle take (after payment portal fees) goes to The Myositis Association
  5. LotFP has plans for the money. If/when we hit $22,500 on the bundle, I will commit to hiring a name RPG writer to do a project I've always wanted to have myself (that I don't particularly want to write) in a format nobody's done in years. Anything above that, well, my wife wants to go somewhere on holiday and I owe that to her for turning our two-room apartment into a warehouse these past years.
  6. We can continue to shake up the industry a little bit. Complacency and the same-old same-old being popular year-on-year isn't good for a creative industry. The following chart (open the image in a new tab; Blogger's been wonky with images lately) is how LotFP ranks with this year's other Bundles of Holding as of this past midnight. Note that two of the three Bundles still in front of us are for 30-40 year old creations. We can beat that. And hopefully show that the OSR can beat out a *World bundle too.

So if you jump on board the Bundle, everybody benefits. If you've already got this stuff so you don't need the Bundle, well, tell people about it. Not just with a link. Tell people why you like Lamentations and why you think they might too.

LotFP Discount Bundle + Ropecon, GenCon, more!

The LotFP Bundle of Holding is live and runs until August 1! Starting at $12.95 for 7 PDFs, this is a great introduction to LotFP, both for its own sake and as a low-priced sampler of our offerings before our big convention appearances. If that sounds good to you, I'd jump on it sooner than later since the bonus package's price increases steadily through the Bundle's life. If you know someone that is curious about LotFP, let them know about the bundle.

And check out this writeup the Bundle people did about LotFP!

July 22 will be LotFP's 7th anniversary being officially in business. Lots done right, lots done wrong, but increased sales every year, so crossing fingers for getting more right than wrong in the next seven years!

Conventions!

July 29-31 Ropecon, Messukeskus, Helsinki
August 4-7 GenCon, Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis

Ropecon is the home field, for the first time in Helsinki's major convention center. The trade hall will be decently sized, and LotFP has booked a big 5x2 meter space in response, but otherwise this should be business as usual.

GenCon is the big one. For the first time we've got a trade stand there (booth 3002, right across from Kingdom Death awesomely enough) and this might be the only time to see the North American supporters in person. Come say hi, buy some stuff (we'll have the entire catalog plus some exclusive hoodies, a pile of the convention-exclusive tour shirts, and Maze of the Blue Medusa), and help spread the word!

We also have TraCon coming up September 3-4 in Tampere, another huge convention in October as LotFP has a stand at Essen Spiel (Hall 2, Booth 2-7108), and then we finish out the year December 3 at Dragonmeet in London.

As far as upcoming releases, We should be putting out two new major releases in the fall (hopefully September, but you know...) which will satisfy the 1000 New Published Pages pledge made at the beginning of the year. We've got some long-overdue crowdfunding rewards that were supposed to go to press in May, but between dealing with misprints and the heavy convention schedule, that didn't get done and I'm not leaving my wife with boxes everywhere while I'm in the US so that'll get done after GenCon. And just maybe before the end of the year, a third major release.

And then 2017 should be another crazy, productive year.

Free RPG Day is this Friday - Get LotFP's Slügs!

OK, I've uploaded the Slügs! promo to the LotFP G+, Facebook, Tumblr, and Twitter accounts.

What I didn't say in those posts is that 5 random people who reshare/retweet/etc. that post from those accounts through Friday the 17th will get a free book of their choice from the LotFP webstore... oooorrrrr, if they prefer... in cooperation with Otherworld Miniatures, one of Otherworld's Giant Slug miniatures!

Spread the word! SLÜGS OVER THE WORLD!

Cursed Chateau and England Upturn'd Now Available! RPC This Weekend!

The Cursed Chateau and England Upturn'd are now available from the LotFP Webstore and RPGNow!

The Cursed Chateau is a complete rewrite and expansion of the 2009 haunted house adventure by James Maliszewski, with graphic design and art by Jez Gordon! 80 page fancy hardcover!

England Upturn'd is a 128 page adventure by Barry Blatt that takes place during the English Civil War. Intrigue, insanity, and all the classic LotFP insanity is included in this one, as are alternate alignment rules (politics!) and a bunch of Cleric subclasses to fit right in to mid 1600s England.

Feel free to also add older titles to your order. :)

I'm going to be at RPC in Cologne this weekend, UK Games Expo in Birmingham the following weekend, and NordCon in Hamburg the weekend after that, so please be aware that packing and shipping will be slower than usual since I'll be away more than I'm home the next couple weeks, but the first orders will be going out on Tuesday. I will have the new books at the conventions.

Towers Two, World of the Lost, more OUT NOW!

World of the Lost, Towers Two, and Green Devil Face are out now, along with reprints of Red & Pleasant Land and the Rules & Magic book. To get more information or to order go here! (They are on their way to the distribution as we speak as well!)

If you prefer WotL or Towers Two in PDF form, go here.

That playtest document thing? That'll go out Gardening Society members who arebackers of WotL and Towers Two, or who make any purchase, while supplies last. I printed 300 of them. Sneak peak into possible changes to the next "edition" of LotFP.

Free RPG Day Push

LotFP's rolling in to GenCon this year, and to continue the publicity assault I'd like to participate in Free RPG Day this year.

Problem is, it's rather expensive, and there's a ton of money tied up with the releases currently at the printer and still to come, not to mention all these convention booths and flights and hotels. Dumping a few grand now on a publicity tool that wouldn't pay off until summer just isn't happening.

And I don't want to go the crowdfunding route, because even though two major things are finally at the printer now, I'm still behind on several campaigns and I'm not doing the crowdfund thing again until all that is cleared and out. (and I always overdeliver to go along with the tardiness, so I don't feel like paying 10,000€ for a project funded for an original 5,000€ budget... AGAIN. Fuck that noise.)

So here's what I've come up with to try to raise the money:

Pembrooktonshire Gardening Society Membership Drive!

This is for those of you who like print products. You can join here!

Gardening Society members get 1€ off every item* in the LotFP Webstore, and 1€ off every item at LotFP convention tables when presenting their membership cards!

Memberships cost 10€ (+VAT if you're in an EU country).

If you use the LotFP webstore to order LotFP books (and shirts and whatever else we put up there), the Gardening Society is a no-brainer. LotFP currently has over TWO DOZEN NEW projects in development by more than a dozen authors, and even if you have all LotFP releases to date, you will easily be able to make up your Gardening Society fee in savings over time.

This is a push to finance LotFP participation in Free RPG Day this year, so if you're going to join, doing so by February 19 (Free RPG Day signup deadline) would be appreciated. :D

* (0,50€ discount for the bookmarks)

LotFP MegaBundle Sale Over at RPGNow!

This is for those of you who like PDFs. You can get the bundle here!

We've bundled every LotFP PDF ever into one bundle for $100.10 (a discount of over 60% for the entire line!). The Deluxe and Grindhouse editions of the rules are included in this bundle so you can see how LotFP rules have changed over the years.

You can buy the Grindhouse and/or Deluxe Editions separately for $20 apiece if you'd like, but I really wouldn't recommend it.

This bundle is to raise money for participating in this year's Free RPG Day, so the bundle (and the old versions of the rules) disappear after February 19 (signup deadline), so jump quick if you're jumping.

Green Devil Face #4 PDF just $1, and You'll Never Guess Why!

LotFP's going to GenCon, that's why. Exhibitor booth and everything. But getting from Finland to Indianapolis takes some financing. So we've discounted Green Devil Face #4 to just $1. Click this link and it'll take you directly to the RPGNow shopping cart with the PDF already in it.

For that $1, you get a ton of stuff:

  • Knights of Science - A New Character Class by James Edward Raggi IV
  • The Tower - Mini-Adventure by James Edward Raggi IV (originally presented in Fight On #4 - contains more backstory than the version in Death Frost Doom!)
  • The Dread Sorceries of Duvan'Ku - New Spells by James Edward Raggi IV (originally presented in Fight On #4)
  • Fell Magick Items of Duvan'Ku - New Magic Items by James Edward Raggi IV (originally presented in Fight On #4)
  • Random Inn Generator - Create an Inn and its Visitors from scratch! By James Edward Raggi IV (originally presented in Fight On #2)
  • Wand of the Weird - A wand of Bizarre Effect by James Edward Raggi IV
  • House of Snails - A mini-dungeon by James Edward Raggi IV
  • The Frog Cult - A mini-dungeon by James Edward Raggi IV
  • The Tomb to Die For/In by R. Lawrence Blake
  • Random Treasure Generator - The Old Treasure Tables Presented in a New Way by James Edward Raggi IV
  • A Spell Point Theory - Another Look Adapting the Vancian Magic System to Spell Points by James Edward Raggi IV

Plus Classic Green Devil Face Tricks/Traps:

  • The Room of Four Pits by Ramsey Dow
  • The Sneaky Book Room by James Brian Murphy
  • The Child by Zak Sabbath
  • The Chamber and the Glass Box by Zak Sabbath
  • Shrieker Stew by Jonathan Becker
  • Pool of Testing by Jonathan Becker
  • Shaggy Dog by Jonathan Becker

It's a 2010 PDF and kind of primitive-looking, and the color of the cover is eye-searing, but with all that content you absolutely can't go wrong for $1.

Oh, Towers Two, World of the Lost, as well as reprints of A Red & Pleasant Land and the Rules & Magic book are at the printer. They should be (fingers crossed) available for sale mid-February.
