  3. Bought and read GDF #5, great value for the price, I liked the trap and and the idea fodder like the Loch Ness Monsters.

Why your store lists the price weirdly as 0.81€ when it's actually €1.00 after taxes. Dude! When you go to pick groceries out of store nearest your home they list the whole actual price and not the price without taxes.

    1. That's not actually true everywhere around the world, including my largest market.

(also, for accounting purposes I need the taxes and base price separate and have no idea if it's possible to do that after-the-fact since PDFs have the tax applied to all customers... whereas physical goods do not if you're not in the EU)

I have never seen a store, either brick&mortar or online, that listed the price+tax cost of items.

But many governments don't tax many food items. So, in the cases of such items, their listed prices are the same as their price+tax costs because there is no tax.

    3. We put the combined price on items here. This caught me out on my first visit to the US, when the sales tax was applied at the counter.

    4. Ed, I'm just weirded out by the apparently US style listing of prices as I forget that mister Raggi has his US market too and almost every store I visit lists the actual cost of the item.

    5. That's interesting. Now I wonder if the price-listing style that I'm used to is common anywhere else but the USA. I must admit that it has been decades since I've been to another country, so I don't remember what the price-listing style was like anywhere else that long ago.

    6. Not sure if this is actually why, but in the US some taxes are included in the listed price, gas, for example has taxes included, but I believe that's a federal tax. State (or local) sales tax for retail items are determined by the state or local gov't. Delaware, for example, doesn't collect a retail sales tax, while in New Jersey it's 7% for the whole state EXCEPT special "depressed economy areas" where the tax is 3 1/2% to encourage business. So, in the US we can't include tax in the price because it varies from state to state. Sale of items across state lines via mail or internet are tax exempt unless the seller has a brick and mortar base of operations in the purchaser's state. You can see how confusing it would get if we did include tax in the purchase price pre-sale.
Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but the European taxes being referred to are collected by the country's gov't not province or state or whatever you folks call them. But in this instance wouldn't that only apply if you lived in Finland?
Have I proven how much of a balls out "know-it-all bitch" I am? Or should I continue?

    7. @Victor Garrison

I, too, thought of the wild tax variations within the USA due to its myriad different local, county & state taxes applying differently to people in (or, sometimes, even just from) different places.

But I didn't bring it up because I figured most people in other countries probably wouldn't care.

      And I didn't want to prove how much of a balls-out know-it-all bitch I am. ;o)

  4. That was WAY to long of a wait for a new LotFP release, but finally it's here! Yay! (Good thing Carcosa is so very playable and long lasting). Unfortunately, another DM in my gaming circle will be running these, so I can't even read them yet!
