You get the first 10 movies I can think of that fit!

Witchfinder General

  1. I always thought that the original Hellraiser should've been filmed for laughs. It's just timing tweaks away from hilarity.

  2. May I recommend the BBC modern vampire hunting miniseries "Ultraviolet". Conspiracy to blot out the sun, charcoal bullets, guns with minicams and LCD screens b/c the vampires don't show up on video, freeze dried vampires, vampire fetuses which don't appear on sonograms. It's great!

  3. All great flicks!
I can see how these would make your list.

  4. Great list...but needs more Wicker Man (original only, of course).

  5. I'll assume the original Blob from 1958?

  6. Can't argue with that list! If John Carpenter's The Thing wasn't on there I would have to boycott your future projects. ;)

  7. I might be doing it wrong but I imagine

    Fearless vampire killers
    Blood on Satan's claws
    Flesh + blood
    Jabberwocky
and pretty much every Paul Naschy movie on that list too.

  8. I get the feeling that Captain Kronos would be on every general movie list that James makes!!

    I love all these films.

  9. If Captain Kronos isn't an influence, it probably sucks. :)

  10. No "Night of the Living Dead"? The original zombie apocalypse? I guess it came in at #11. ;P

  11. James, Have you seen Lars Von Trier's Antichrist?

  12. I have the DVD but haven't convinced the wife to watch it with me yet (hate watching movies alone :P).

  13. Antichrist is very impressive and creepy as all hell.

I also really enjoyed, though not horror, Nicholas Refn's Valhalla Rising. A Danish director doing Vikings well.

Had a PC die of a self-inflicted stab wound today. Thought of you.
