Shaft von Blackula

Yes, someone at the in-store game today named his character this.

Luckily, he died underneath the O'Shaunnessy house.

Seems nobody in the party bought rope or a lantern at first, but there were 15 dogs accompanying the party.

Mostly younger players, and the ideas of "cooperation" and "don't split the party" haven't quite settled in.

It was that kind of night. :D

  1. I maybe terminally immature but that is best character name in ages. :D

  2. Don't be so hard on yourself, Jim. Everyone seemed to have fun, and I'm sure they'll learn what it takes to be a successful adventurer. More planning, more team work, and less dicking around, and the results will be much better.

  3. Hey, Shaft von Blackula was awesome! And it's not my fault I had to choose between 5 dogs, and rope.

  4. One of my favorite D&D things is when a character dies because they're not carrying a light source & a tinderbox.

Cracks me up every time, "I bet you didn't have a ranged weapon and a dagger either, hohoho!"

  5. ..and at least you didn't have a player name his character "Al Jolsen" as I have...

  6. Saturday Night's game for me involved characters named Altered Breast and Axedong, the Dwarf, so Shaft Von Blacula is genuinely tasteful, IMO.

  7. Oh shit, last night someone named their dwarf "Rock Dick Thundar" at my instigation ("What's a good name for a dwarf?", ME: "Rockdi...)

  8. When I adventured in Tegel Manor, I played a Monk named (Bad, Bad) Leroy Brown.

  9. Best I can do is a character from Bushido: The Katana Kid.

Not mine, I hasten to add.

  10. Seeing as many of the original Blackmoor games involved a vampire PC named Sir Fang, I don't think Shaft von Blacula is entirely outside D&D naming conventions.
