  3. I love the art but what really has me hooked is the title's font. It conjures up some Lovecraftian hero, crouched over his desk, scratching away at the story of the Monolith from Beyond Space and Time by the light of a single lamp; knowing he will be taken for insane but desperate to make a record in the hopes of protecting others from the horrors he has witnessed.

I'm intrigued. I won't be able to resist buying this one.

  5. The art looks good, Jim. Very classy and very clear.

Consider switching the titles around. With LotFP as the header it looks like another version of the rules (i.e., after the Grindhouse Edition there was the Monolith edition). My sense is you can subordinate the brand to the product title nowadays. This is especially true for a Raggi-written module or supplement, as opposed to rules, since you can count on all the folks that say "I love Raggi's writing in the modules but I have no use for LotFP" to buy the module.

  7. Uh... I am sorry to bring this up, but doesn't the "monolith" look like the morning after product of a feverish, drug-fuelled vegetable binge? I asked some friends about their opinion, and the consensus seems to be "yes, it is a piece of crap".

  8. If you saw a towering turd in the forest, you'd think it was unusual and disturbing.

Especially a feverish, drug-fueled vegetable binge turd.

And when you found out this turd was not from around here, you'd be positively freaked out.

So it still works, even if that's your interpretation.

(it's not the official interpretation, mind you, but then again I don't specify what the monolith is made out of)

(no The Monolith from Uranus jokes, please)

  9. "(no The Monolith from Uranus jokes, please)"

So I shouldn't say that the only reason it looks like "a piece of crap" is because it's covered with cling-ons?

Seriously, though, I think it looks awesome!

And I also think the idea that it could be a petrified turd -- which would raise the questions of what shat it, why it's petrified, and what's in it -- makes it even more interesting.

  11. "...a feverish, drug-fuelled vegetable binge..."

Hungarians certainly know how to party...

  12. I originally meant to simply write "the morning after product of a feverish lecso binge", but I had to realise there may be a lot of unfortunate places on the globe where lecso is unknown. Fortunately, it is actually a very simple recipe (and it can be varied endlessly): http://www.chew.hu/lecso.html

  13. It's a turd. And you're oohing & ahhing.

  14. "It's a turd. And you're oohing & ahhing.

We're "oohing & ahhing" because it's the most monumental movement we've ever seen.

Have you ever seen more awe-inspiring excrement?
